World Fair Trade day #WFTD2015 is coming soon!! Central day celebration is on May 9th. As part of the celebration we want to share the stories of the artisans and all people working on and with APTEC PERU.
This is our first story. Let us present:
ALEJANDRINA ALTAMIRANO ORTIZ.
Alejandrina was born in 1959 in Andahuaylas (Central region of the Peruvian highlands) married and mother of three children, she has been working with vases for the last 20 years. Alejandrina learn this handicraft work almost by chance and because of the necessity of work.
All the vases are handmade and hand painted at her place where she teaches and works with three other women.
Alejandrina, Can you share something with us?
“I’ve been working with vases for the last 20 years. This is my passion; I love to design and paint. I transmit this to my family and my team work. FairTrade is a way of living, not only in business but also in the way you treat your family, your neighbors, at the street etc.
I don’t want people to buy my creations because of charity; this is why we take care of each detail. If you see the vases you will love them, they are perfect.”
Alejandrina is our #AgentChange #FairTrade.
